We have 1st class France/Italy Eurail passes. I want to make a reservatiuon on the TGV trian Paris to the Loire area (Chatellerault) and return but can't seem to find a way to do this without involving an expensive agent in my home country (Australia). Can anyone help? If you can't do it online I wonder if you can ring them - could run the risk of being put on hold for ages doing this though.
Answer on Have Eurail pass want to make online reservation on TGV train in France. Advice?
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be possible to make reservations with SNCF through the Internet. Your only options are to make the bookings through a company such as RailPlus and pay their supplement or, wait until you get to France where you can make the booking at any train station or SNCF office.
Most trains from Paris to Chatellerault are not direct TGVs and depart from Gare d'Austerlitz, there is also a change required at either Tours or St Pierre de Corps, and you will find the second train is a regional TER which has only one class. There is one direct TGV, departing Gare Montparnasse at 1.45pm. You should have no trouble booking seats on this train if you buy them as soon as you reach Paris.
