I can't seem to lose any weight!?

I have gone from no activity to walking 3-5 miles everyday. My diet has not changed for the mostpart, although I have started having egg whites for breakfast, drinking 8 glasses of water and replacing one meal a day with a lean cuisine. I have been doing this activity for almost two months now and I have lost absolutely no weight. My Doctor says there is nothing wrong with my thyroid. I am over a hundred pounds overweight for my height, and she hasn't suggested any prescription weight loss. So, I have a few questions. do you think I should switch Doctors? What process does it take to get a lap band/gastric bypass? Is there a prescription or over the counter pill you recommend? Basically any advice?

Answer on I can't seem to lose any weight!?

Interesting. Weight lost isn't the same for all people. Genetics does play a role here. I would get a second opinion regarding the thyroids. I would first of all suggest the lap band instead of gastric bypass, but with the band, theres ways to cheat. But if you are that determined to get fit, which it sounds like you are, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with it. I suggest if you are really considering a surgical method you meet with a doctor and discuss it. Maybe he/she could also provide more insight to your case, they do deal with people in your situation all the time. There are a few good dietary supplements out there. I again, would talk to your doctor about getting a prescription that would be good for you, the over the counter ones are not as trustworthy. A supplement along with your dietary and exercise plan may just be the ticket. Keep doing what you are doing and maybe talk to a nutritionist more in depth. Good luck with everything. -J
